19-year-old Female elected as President of Department of Philosophy, LASU.

In recognition of her altruistic efforts to supporting fellow students facing facing financial challenges, Bakare Adeola Zainab, a 19-years-old 300-level student, has made history by becoming the first female President of the Philosophy Department at Lagos State University (LASU).

Zainab secured a decisive victory with 138 votes, leaving her opponent, Adedehin Olalekan trailing with 53 votes.

Prior to her victory as the President, Zainab had served as the Vice President, where she portrayed her administrative power to yield positive benefits. She conducted a symposium pulling people from all angles of the earth into the school.

She is also the first known Vice-President of LASU, elected President of the department of Philosophy.

She revealed her gracious intentions and plans if she is being elected as the President.

Exceptionally buying the winning ticket with her distinctive and effective measures. She stated that she would bring innovative ideas towards raising funds for students who cannot afford paying their fees.

She mentioned that she has “Personally raised school fees for some students this semester”.

“One of the major challenges I have observed in my department are students being unable to pay their school fees.

“So, I, being the president, will bring innovative ideas towards raising funds for students who cannot afford paying their fees,” she said.

Zainab reiterated that her top priority as president would be to promote academic excellence and tackle the “after schooling” challenges that many students face.

She articulated a vision that goes beyond academic goals, aiming to help students discover their true professional identities and prepare for life beyond the classroom.

“It’s possible to run your masters and you are yet to discover yourself. We have lots of people that are done schooling, did their masters and PhD, but are yet to discover who they are, which means there’s little they can do in today’s world.

“My top priority is academic excellence, career workshop and innovative grant.”
