The Federal Government has earmarked N112 billion for the National Plan for Financing Safe Schools, aiming to secure learning environments over the next three years, according to the Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim.

Speaking on Universal Children’s Day, themed “Advancing Children’s Rights for a Sustainable Future,” Suleiman-Ibrahim emphasised the government’s commitment to safeguarding children and advancing their rights through various initiatives.

She highlighted the nationwide adoption of the Child Rights Act by all 36 states and the implementation of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act, which has bolstered policies against child abuse and violence.

The minister reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to providing education, healthcare, and safety for children, stating, “The Government of Nigeria has made significant strides in demonstrating its dedication to the Nigerian child through various actions, including the domestication of the CRA and strengthening child protection frameworks.”
