In a move to preserve Nigeria’s democratic history, the Federal Government has expressed support for a documentary that will chronicle the nation’s 25 years of uninterrupted civilian rule.
Speaking in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended the initiative spearheaded by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). He highlighted the documentary as an opportunity to document Nigeria’s political transformation, celebrate milestones, and reflect on lessons learned since the transition from military rule in 1999.
Idris reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a political environment that encourages healthy competition and national unity. He noted that while political parties may differ in ideology, collaboration remains crucial for sustained development.
IPAC Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, described the documentary as an educational tool aimed at younger generations, particularly Gen Z. He disclosed that the production would meet global standards, featuring prominent Nollywood actors to bring Nigeria’s democratic evolution to life.
The IPAC delegation, which included key officials such as Dipo Olayokun, Dan Nwayanwu, and Maxwell Mabudem, expressed appreciation for the government’s backing, stating that the documentary would serve as a lasting historical archive for future generations.
