The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted N1bn bail to 109 foreign nationals accused of engaging in cybercrime and hacking activities allegedly threatening Nigeria’s security.
Justice Ekerete Akpan, delivering the ruling on Friday, mandated the defendants to provide five sureties each, with the sureties owning landed properties within Abuja.
The sureties are also required to submit two recent passport photographs and their original passports to the court.
The defendants must surrender their passports to the court’s deputy registrar as part of the bail conditions.
The defense counsel, James Onoja (SAN), had filed the application, which was unopposed by prosecution counsel A. A. Egwu.
This decision comes amid heightened scrutiny of cyber-related crimes impacting national security.
