The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its national chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, following his controversial remarks on the 2027 presidential election.
Osuman reportedly stated during the ACF National Executive Council meeting that the North would back a northern candidate in the upcoming election.
However, the forum disowned his comments, clarifying that he acted unilaterally without consulting other members or leaders.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Bashir Dalhatu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Murtala Aliyu, Secretary General, the ACF described Osuman’s remarks as personal and not reflective of the forum’s position.
The statement further announced Osuman’s immediate suspension and the establishment of a committee to investigate his actions.
“ACF rejects Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman’s statements in their entirety. For this reason, the leadership of the ACF’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and that of its NEC has decided to place Mamman Mike Osuman on suspension with immediate effect,” the forum declared.
