The United Kingdom has unveiled the biggest visa application centre in Africa, located in Lagos, through its new commercial partner, VFS Global.
The facility, which officially began operations on November 19, is designed to expedite the visa application process for Nigerians.
Residents can now schedule appointments to submit visa applications at modernised centres in Abuja, Ikeja, and Victoria Island.
At the launch, British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter expressed enthusiasm about the development, emphasising Nigeria’s significance as a key UK partner.
“This is a landmark achievement, showcasing our commitment to delivering improved services for visa applicants,” Baxter stated.
Marc Owen, UKVI’s Director of Visa Services, highlighted the milestone, noting that over 225,000 UK visas were processed for Nigerian nationals in the past year.
He affirmed the UK’s dedication to accessible and efficient visa services.
Alok Singhal, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa at VFS Global, celebrated the long-standing collaboration with UKVI, expressing excitement about offering “best-in-class services” to Nigerian travellers.
