The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has granted a N500 million bail to former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who faces charges in a N10.4 billion fraud case.

Alongside co-defendants Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, Bello is charged with conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and possession of unlawfully obtained property.

The court ordered that Bello deposit his passport and restricted him from traveling abroad without court permission.

The bail was granted with three sureties, each in the same amount.

Sureties must be responsible citizens and landowners in specific Abuja areas, with relevant documents submitted to the court.

Bello’s previous bail application was rejected in December, but a fresh application was granted after a hearing on Thursday.

The trial has been adjourned to January 29 and 30, 2024.
