The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government are scheduled to meet on Monday to address the union’s demands and prevent a potential strike in Nigerian universities.

ASUU issued a 21-day strike notice on Wednesday, urging the government to resolve outstanding issues hindering the progress of the nation’s universities.

In response, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, confirmed that the meeting with ASUU leadership is set for Monday, expressing hope that the discussions will prevent the strike.

Some of the unresolved issues date back to the 2009 agreement, with concerns in the university system stretching as far back as 1981.
