The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed its ruling on the bail application of Tigran Gambaryan, an executive of Binance Holdings Limited, due to the absence of Justice Emeka Nwite.

The ruling, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was delayed because Justice Nwite was attending a seminar at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja, and has now been rescheduled for October 11.

Gambaryan’s legal counsel, Mark Mordi, had earlier requested his client’s release on bail, citing health concerns.

However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), represented by Ekele Iheanacho, opposed the request, stating that Gambaryan was receiving appropriate medical care through the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) and had previously declined treatment from the State House Clinic in Abuja.

Iheanacho argued that Gambaryan’s health is not as severe as portrayed and that the NCoS has ensured his treatment at several hospitals.

He emphasised that while medical care was available, surgeons could not perform procedures without the defendant’s consent.

The EFCC however urged the court to decline the bail application, while Gambaryan’s counsel argued that his client’s health condition required medical attention that could not be adequately provided within Nigeria.
