Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, was reportedly arrested Thursday night while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam, and is scheduled for questioning in Abuja on bribery and corruption allegations.
An EFCC official confirmed that Bobrisky would be flown to Abuja on Friday.
Bobrisky was reportedly detained by immigration officers at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a flight.
Sharing details on Instagram, Bobrisky claimed he sustained injuries during an altercation with the officers, alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was behind his detention.
He posted, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
The arrest comes after Bobrisky failed to respond to multiple EFCC summons regarding his claims in a leaked voice note, where he alleged bribing EFCC officials with ₦15 million to dismiss charges.
The EFCC has denied the allegations but is conducting an investigation.
During a recent briefing, EFCC’s Wilson Uwajaren stated that Bobrisky could face additional charges if the accusations prove false.
A senior EFCC source emphasised that his allegations could not be disregarded, given the severity.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed Friday that Bobrisky is en route to Abuja for further investigation.
