British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been put on a 28-day booxing suspension following his knockout defeat to Daniel at London’s Wembley Stadium last Saturday.
The British Boxing Board of Control issued the ban, which is a routine procedure for fighters who suffer TKO or KO losses, according to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.
According to a statement from the Mirror UK on Sunday, issuing a suspension after a knockout is standard for safety reasons, explaining that Joshua’s ban falls within typical medical guidelines.
Anthony Joshua, a 34-year-old endured a challenging night in the ring, falling three times before Dubois, also known as ‘DDD,’ delivered a decisive right hand in the fifth round, sealing the victory.
This marks the fourth career defeat for Joshua, following his 2019 loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. and two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022.
While the suspension will not affect Joshua’s current plans, as no future fights are scheduled, the defeat has reignited debate about his boxing future. Former boxer Carl Froch voiced his concerns, commenting on Joshua’s performance.
“Joshua got battered from pillar to post. He lacked ambition, self-belief, and confidence,” Froch remarked on his YouTube channel. He also questioned whether Joshua still has the desire to continue boxing, calling his performance “weak.”
However, Joshua remains determined, stating he has no plans to retire.
In a video shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page, he thanked his supporters and reflected on his career, emphasizing his positive outlook and future goals.
