The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to announce its decision on Wednesday regarding the unresolved AFCON Group D qualifier between Libya and Nigeria, which was scheduled for October 15 at the Benina Martyrs Stadium.

According to PUNCH Sports and Libya’s Al-Ahrar Channel, CAF will address the players’ difficulties during the first leg in Nigeria, which ended 1-0 in favor of the Super Eagles, and the abandoned return fixture in Libya.

Libya’s Football Federation has submitted all relevant documents, along with legal counsel, to CAF for review.

The match was abruptly canceled just hours before kick-off, with the fixture removed from CAF’s calendar and referred to the Disciplinary Committee.

Libya’s Football Federation condemned Nigeria’s alleged refusal to cooperate and confirmed that it would pursue all legal avenues to safeguard its national team’s interests.

The controversy stems from Nigeria’s arrival on October 14, where their flight was diverted to Al Abraq International Airport, approximately three hours from Benghazi.

The Nigerian team was detained for 17 hours under harsh conditions before returning home, prompting Nigeria to file a formal complaint with CAF.

CAF expressed concern over the Nigerian team’s treatment, describing it as “extremely dangerous” and referring the incident to its disciplinary committee to probe into and determine action.
