Amid concerns over the recent court ruling affecting Keystone Bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reassured the public that the bank remains stable and operational.

The apex bank clarified on Friday that the court’s decision to transfer ownership of Keystone Bank’s shares to the Federal Government does not affect its day-to-day operations or the security of depositors’ funds.

CBN’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Ali, noted that the regulator had been overseeing the bank’s management since January 2024 to ensure compliance with industry standards.

This development follows a Lagos court’s verdict ordering the dissolution of Sigma Golf Nigeria Limited, the bank’s former shareholder, over an alleged financial misappropriation case.

Despite the transition in ownership, Keystone Bank continues to function without disruption, with CBN maintaining close regulatory oversight to uphold transparency and financial stability.

Customers are encouraged to carry on with their banking activities as usual, with assurances that the institution remains secure under its new ownership structure.
