The Dangote group has announced its intention to transport refined petroleum products through sea routes, with the aim to ease the burden on Nigeria’s road networks.
This was disclosed on Sunday by the Senior Adviser to the Group President on Special Projects and Strategic Relations, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman.
As part of this plan, Wali-Abdurrahman highlighted the construction of a jetty in the Lekki Free Zone, to facilitate the movement of bulk cargoes during the refinery’s development phase and assist in exporting products to other African countries through seaports.
The initiative is poised to harmonise distribution and support the group’s export operations across Africa.
As stated in the statement, the Dangote Group was a major sponsor of the trade fair hosted by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI). The company’s booth drew a large number of visitors, who were eager to learn more about its newly operational oil refinery and other business units, including Dangote Fertiliser, Dangote Sugar, NASCON (Dangote Salt), and Dangote Cement.
Among the attendees, participants like Peter Ibrahim were particularly interested in job and business opportunities offered by the Dangote Refinery.
Similarly, cement dealer Sale Sagir expressed interest in becoming a distributor of Dangote Petroleum products.
Wali-Abdurrahman also shared that the company has been transitioning its fleet to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) over the past decade as part of its sustainability efforts to reduce carbon emissions and operational costs.
Currently, about a third of their fleet has been converted, with the goal of converting the entire fleet in the future.
ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, represented by Vice President Legal, Aisha Abdullahi, lauded the Dangote Group’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s industrialisation and national revenue through taxes, which fund critical infrastructure and social projects.
