The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 10 officers from its Lagos Zonal Command amid an ongoing internal investigation into the theft of operational items.

The officers were arrested on the directive of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede, who is leading efforts to address misconduct and unethical practices within the commission.

The detained officers are being questioned over missing items that were not properly accounted for during their duties.

According to a statement on the EFCC’s X account, the officers’ detention follows a thorough review, and they are currently under investigation.

This move comes shortly after the EFCC dismissed 27 of its officers due to fraudulent activities, based on the recommendations of its Staff Disciplinary Committee.

The EFCC has assured that the investigation is progressing well, with those found responsible expected to face internal disciplinary action.
