The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into a Chinese national accused of tearing Naira notes during an altercation with Lagos State officials.

The incident reportedly occurred at a Chinese-owned company on the Lekki-Epe Expressway as officials attempted to shut the premises for alleged regulatory breaches.

Viral footage showed the man resisting closure, pulling out Naira notes, and tearing them, drawing public outrage.

Social media users condemned the act, demanding strict action against the individual and calling for penalties against those who shielded him from apprehension.
