Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has authorised a change in bail conditions for five #EndBadGovernance protesters, reducing their bail to N5 million each.

This decision came following the initial bail conditions set on September 11, 2024, which required N10 million and a surety with property in Abuja, proved too difficult for some protesters to meet.

The defense lawyers filed an appeal, seeking a reduction in bail for five of the protesters who were struggling to meet the initial requirements.

In response, Justice Nwite lowered the bail to N5 million each, with a surety of equal value.

The judge stipulated that the surety must be a blood relative, such as a parent, or if unavailable, another close family member within the court’s jurisdiction.

The ten defendants, including Michael Adaramoye (aka Lenin), Adeyemi Abayomi, and others, face charges of treason, conspiracy to commit felony, and incitement to mutiny.

They are accused of attempting to destabilise Nigeria by allegedly forcing their way into government buildings, burning a police station, and injuring officers.

The Federal Government also charged them with inciting the public and damaging several public properties, including a High Court complex and National Communication Commission facilities.

Despite the allegations, all ten defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them by the Inspector General of Police(IGP).
