The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a two-week deadline for 762 landowners in Maitama II District, Abuja, to settle outstanding payments for their Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O).
Defaulters risk losing their land allocations if payments are not made by January 3, 2025.
A statement from Wike’s office noted that while 2,511 landowners complied with an earlier deadline, 762 remained in default.
The minister extended the payment grace period to encourage compliance but warned that no further extensions would be granted.
The announcement follows recent revocations of land titles involving prominent individuals, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and other notable figures, for similar non-compliance.
Wike reiterated the government’s commitment to enforcing land use regulations and recovering outstanding debts.
