A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant against a British citizen, Andrew Wynne, and several Nigerians on allegations related to treason and terrorism.
The order was granted on Tuesday by Justice Emeka Nwite following an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector-General of Police, represented by lawyer Audu Garba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Inspector-General had accused Wynne, along with 10 detained Nigerian protesters, of conspiring to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through unconstitutional means.
The allegations also include incitement to mutiny and acts of terrorism.
During the court session, Garba listed those involved as Andrew Martin Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich, Lucky Ehis Obiyan, and Comrade Abdullahi Musa.
He claimed that these individuals were responsible for planning and coordinating attacks on several government buildings in Kano, including the High Court Complex, NCC office, and Printing Press, as well as other locations such as the Government House in Kano and the Kaduna Investment and Promotions Agency.
Garba urged the court to declare the defendants wanted, arguing that their arrest would allow security agencies across the country to pursue and detain them lawfully.
Justice Nwite, in granting the motion, agreed that the application was justified.
This comes after the court on Monday ordered the remand of 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters in correctional centres on charges that also include treason.
