FG Allocates ₦960bn for Defence Aircraft Maintenance, Security Equipment in 2025 Budget.

The Federal Government has earmarked ₦960 billion for the maintenance of defence aircraft and procurement of security equipment in the 2025 budget to address Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.

The allocation covers several agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, DSS, and Immigration Service, with significant funds directed towards arms, ammunition, and protective gear.

The Nigerian Immigration Service received the largest allocation of ₦438.8 billion for security equipment, followed by the Nigerian Army, which budgeted ₦110.2 billion for defence equipment and ₦51.5 billion for arms and ammunition.

The Air Force allocated ₦70.45 billion for defence equipment, while the Navy earmarked ₦39.4 billion.

Additionally, ₦13.9 billion has been set aside for maintaining and fuelling defence aircraft, and ₦6 billion will go towards purchasing ballistic vests and helmets.

President Bola Tinubu presented the ₦47.90 trillion “Budget of Restoration” to the National Assembly on December 18, allocating ₦4.91 trillion to defence and security to bolster peace and stability nationwide.
