President Bola Tinubu has approved free nationwide transportation ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
This was announced by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Monday.
The Federal Government will provide free train services across the country from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, to ease travel during the festive period.
Additionally, the University of Abuja has been renamed “Yakubu Gowon University” in honour of the former Nigerian Head of State.
On the 2025 budget, the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, revealed that discussions were centred on the Appropriation Bill, with expectations that it will encourage private sector participation in the national economy.
The Minister of Information also confirmed that this was the final FEC meeting for 2024, with the council set to go on recess from December 18, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
