The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to revitalising Nigeria’s aviation sector, with plans to establish a national air carrier and modernise airports across the country.

Abubakar Kana, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, made this pledge during his inauguration in Abuja.

Kana highlighted the critical role of private sector involvement in achieving these goals, citing limited public resources as a challenge.

He affirmed that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises innovation and infrastructure development in the aviation sector.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, expressed confidence in the ministry’s continued progress under Kana’s leadership.

Reflecting on his tenure, Meribole thanked the ministry staff for their collaboration and encouraged them to support Kana in realising the ministry’s objectives.

Stakeholders at the event described Kana as a forward-thinking leader with a strong commitment to staff welfare and institutional growth.

The ceremony ended with the formal transfer of strategic documents, marking a new chapter for Nigeria’s aviation sector.
