A fire broke out at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, early on Saturday, destroying property worth millions of naira.
The fire, which started around 5 a.m. in a pediatric consultant’s office, damaged electronic gadgets, books, office equipment, and the building’s roof.
A credible source suggested the fire might have been caused by an electric spark. Approximately 16 patients were quickly evacuated from the ward.
The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Ogunleye Omotayo, assured that no lives were lost in the incident.
In a statement, the management confirmed that the fire had been extinguished without significant damage to the hospital.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Power has since been restored, and work resumed in the affected section.
The management thanked staff, the state Fire Service, and others for their swift response and encouraged the public to carry on with their normal activities without concern.
