Ahead of the 2025 budget approval, the House of Representatives is pushing for more funding for important government agencies like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
Deputy Spokesman, Philip Agbese, highlighted the importance of strengthening NIMC for national security, improving NYSC funding to support corps members, and enhancing NDA’s capacity to tackle emerging threats.
Agbese also expressed concerns over the Ministry of Defence’s budget, calling the allocation inadequate.
The House Committee on Foreign Affairs is also advocating for an increase in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ budget, which it says falls short of the ministry’s needs.
Agbese assured Nigerians that, despite challenges, the National Assembly remains committed to improving citizens’ lives and ensuring the country’s prosperity.
