Top lawmakers from the House of Representatives gathered at Aso Rock on Monday for an Iftar dinner with President Bola Tinubu, where discussions centred on national unity, governance, and humanitarian efforts.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, addressing attendees, emphasised the importance of reflection during Ramadan, urging Nigerians to assess the country’s progress and commit to prayers for stability and prosperity. As a gesture of solidarity, the House leadership announced a N705 million donation—half of their salaries—to support humanitarian initiatives aimed at aiding vulnerable communities.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the event, called on leaders to prioritise national cohesion over political divisions. He underscored the importance of collaboration, noting that history would remember those who built bridges rather than those who fueled conflicts.

Highlighting the administration’s economic policies, Shettima assured that Nigeria is on the path to recovery, with efforts in place to foster sustainable growth. He praised President Tinubu for his leadership style, which he described as inclusive and forward-thinking.
