House of Reps Set for Gender-Based Violence Awareness Walk in Abuja.

The House of Representatives will spearhead an awareness march on Monday in Abuja to reinforce its commitment to eliminating gender-based violence (GBV) across Nigeria.

The march, set to begin at 8 a.m., will start from the Speaker’s Car Park at the National Assembly Complex and conclude at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.

In a statement on Saturday, House spokesman Akin Rotimi, announced that over 1,000 participants, including lawmakers and members of the public, will join the event.

The march will conclude with a petition submission to the Inspector General of Police, urging decisive measures to protect vulnerable populations and ensure justice for GBV victims.

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas emphasised the lawmakers’ resolve to address GBV through collaborative efforts and legislative reforms, stating, “We stand united to protect the rights and dignity of all Nigerians, especially the most vulnerable.”
