The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced a new agreement with Dangote Refinery, enabling IPMAN to lift products directly, according to National President Abubakar Garima.
This partnership aims to ensure a consistent and affordable supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) nationwide.
After meeting with Aliko Dangote and his team, Garima stated that Dangote Refinery will supply IPMAN with PMS, Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) for distribution across its depots and retail outlets.
IPMAN members were urged to support this partnership due to its potential benefits, such as reducing reliance on middlemen, improving affordability, and contributing positively to Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
In addition to PMS, IPMAN is advancing plans for a national rollout of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) refill stations as part of the presidential CNG initiative.
This transition is expected to drive growth and efficiency within Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
While the new arrangement represents a milestone, IPMAN previously expressed difficulties in loading products from Dangote Refinery.
Despite claims of payment issues, Dangote Refinery clarified that no funds were received directly from IPMAN, as payments were made to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Dangote has advised IPMAN to register and process payments directly with the refinery for future transactions.
