The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered 21 candidates with fraudulent IJMB results which were recommended for 2023 admissions by various institutions.

According to a policy document obtained in Abuja, 12 of these candidates were recommended by Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. Moreover, JAMB revealed that these recommendations were made due to the timing of certificate screenings, which occurred after registration. As a result, these candidates were not approved.

JAMB revealed that in five different institutions were involved in the recommendations, pointing out that such instances reflect a serious lapse in the verification process.

Specifically, JAMB’s policy mandates that all certificates must bear the signature of the institution’s Head, such as the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, or Rector.

To address these issues, JAMB has implemented the Nigerian Post-Secondary Education Data System verification platform, introduced in 2021 for validating IJMB and JUPEB results.

This move follows a report from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) which highlighted irregularities and fraud in JUPEB and IJMB examination results.

Consequently, JAMB has taken proactive measures to prevent such fraud and preserve the integrity of the examination sector.
