The Lagos State Government has introduced the Interstate Park Accreditation and Passenger Manifest Digitisation project to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of interstate travel.

The initiative aims to standardise interstate parks and transform the passenger manifest system into a fully digital platform.

At a press briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, explained that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of all travellers entering or leaving Lagos by road.

The project has two key components: the Interstate Park Accreditation and the Digital Passenger Manifest System.

The accreditation process will require all interstate parks to meet safety and service standards, with certified parks displaying distinctive signage to assure travellers of secure, regulated facilities.

Unregulated roadside parks will be required to meet these standards or make necessary improvements.

Osiyemi also highlighted the move from a paper-based passenger manifest system to a digital platform.

This system will allow real-time capture and secure storage of passenger data, enabling quick access to information for emergency responders in case of incidents.

The initiative will integrate existing park systems into a centralised platform, ensuring that both park operators and travellers benefit from a modern, efficient transport system.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, reiterated that the project would enhance the safety of Lagosians and improve planning for people entering and exiting the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, emphasised the need for improvement in the state’s interstate parks and reassured the public that passenger data would be kept confidential, in line with data protection laws.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers’ State Secretary, Usman Teslim, also praised the state government for the initiative.
