Abuja-based lawyer and public affairs analyst, Charles Ude, has called on the Federal Government to consider Dr. Kingsley Chibuzor Aguoru’s recent proposal to ban the use of card PINs for online transactions.

Aguoru, a UK-based Nigerian Chartered Engineer, submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), urging immediate action to improve transaction security.

Ude emphasised Aguoru’s strong background in technology and finance, asserting that his concerns should be taken seriously.

Aguoru, who has personally experienced card-not-present (CNP) fraud, advocates for stricter security protocols in Nigeria’s financial systems.

His petition raises concerns over card PINs being used online and current National Identity Card security practices, arguing that these pose significant risks to consumers.
