Ademola Lookman, the Super Falcons, and Chiamaka Nnadozie emerged as standout winners at the 2024 CAF Awards held on Monday in Marrakech, Morocco.
Lookman was crowned African Player of the Year, becoming the seventh Nigerian to claim the title, following Victor Osimhen’s 2023 triumph.
The Atalanta forward’s stellar performances, including a hat-trick in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph and Nigeria’s AFCON final run, earned him the honour.
Meanwhile, Nnadozie retained her title as Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, defeating South Africa’s Andile Dlamini and Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi.
Her efforts helped Nigeria qualify for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament after 16 years.
The Super Falcons secured the Women’s National Team of the Year award after maintaining their dominance as Africa’s top-ranked team.
Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau accepted the award, dedicating it to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
However, the Super Eagles lost the Men’s Team of the Year award to AFCON champions Ivory Coast.
