Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya has officially assumed office as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), days after the Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified his presidency.
This marks his first public announcement since the appellate court reaffirmed Ibikunle Baruwa as the legitimate president of the union.
MC Oluomo, who was elected unopposed at the union’s zonal secretariat in Osogbo, saw his presidency nullified by a three-member appellate panel.
The panel upheld the National Industrial Court’s ruling, which recognized Baruwa as the rightful president, and awarded N100,000 in costs against MC Oluomo.
Following the ruling, human rights lawyer Femi Falana called on the federal government to ensure Baruwa’s immediate reinstatement and urged the Attorney-General and Inspector-General of Police to enforce the leadership decision.
