The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has revealed that over 40% of Nigerians now experience a minimum of 20 hours of electricity supply daily.
Adelabu made this statement on Friday, September 29, 2023, while addressing stakeholders on the progress made in improving Nigeria’s electricity supply.
Adelabu attributed the improvement in power supply to efforts by the current administration to revamp the national grid and enhance electricity distribution across the country.
He emphasised that the government is committed to achieving steady and reliable power for Nigerians as part of its broader strategy to support economic growth and improve the quality of life.
The minister also mentioned that the nation is on track to meet further energy targets through ongoing collaborations with private sector players in the power sector.
Adelabu assured the public that the government will continue to invest in infrastructure and ensure that power generation and distribution companies work more efficiently.
Despite the progress, Adelabu acknowledged that there are still challenges affecting parts of the country that do not receive adequate electricity.
However, he expressed optimism that continued reforms and investments would extend these improvements to more Nigerians in the coming months.
