The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized counterfeit medicines worth over ₦300 million during a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
In a statement shared on Thursday, the agency reported confiscating fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampicloxa 500mg capsules, and packaging materials for Augmentin 625mg capsules.
The operation resulted in the facility being sealed, with all counterfeit products evacuated.
NAFDAC warned of the health risks posed by such items, including treatment failures, organ damage, and possible carcinogenic effects due to unidentified substances.
The suspect linked to the illegal operation has been summoned for questioning, while investigations continue.
NAFDAC urged the public to report suspicious pharmaceutical activities to its offices.
