The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismantled illegal alcohol packaging centres in Lagos, seizing counterfeit materials worth ₦2 billion.

The operation took place in the Abule-Osun area, where over 50,000 fake branded labels and packaging materials for unapproved alcoholic beverages were confiscated.

In a statement, NAFDAC highlighted the severe health risks associated with counterfeit alcohol, including poisoning and organ damage.

The agency urged consumers to buy only from trusted vendors and report suspicious activities to nearby NAFDAC offices.

This development follows a recent raid in Nasarawa State, where counterfeit wines and spirits valued at ₦41.2 million were seized.

NAFDAC disclosed that its Investigation and Enforcement team is actively pursuing those behind the fake products, reiterating its commitment to protecting public health and safety.
