The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and resolve the ongoing dispute between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.
In a statement released on Saturday, NANS National Vice President, Sileola Akinbodunse, expressed concern that the situation could escalate, potentially harming Nigeria’s international reputation. The association emphasised the need for both lawmakers to maintain decorum, stressing that the National Assembly should uphold the highest standards of leadership.
Akpoti-Uduaghan recently alleged inappropriate advances from Akpabio, a claim that has stirred public debate. While the Senate President has dismissed the allegations as false, NANS insists that the matter should be addressed promptly to prevent further tensions.
Akinbodunse warned that if the issue remains unresolved, students may take action, including a possible protest at the National Assembly.
