The National Examinations Council (NECO) has accredited additional schools in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This was confirmed on Saturday in a statement released by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, confirming the accreditation following an inspection by the council’s team.

The evaluation involved assessing the schools’ classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer labs, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities.

After a comprehensive review, the schools were granted full accreditation to host NECO’s SSCE and BECE.

“This expansion underscores NECO’s dedication to delivering quality education and assessment beyond Nigeria’s borders,” Sani said. “With a growing global presence, NECO aims to become a leading examination body in Africa, providing opportunities for students worldwide and advancing education across the continent and beyond.”

In a related development, candidates in Diffa, Niger Republic, are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External examinations.

Notably, the UNHCR School in Diffa is the first NECO SSCE External Centre outside Nigeria.

NECO examinations are now accessible in countries including Benin Republic, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reflecting its commitment to international educational collaboration.
