The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has advised Nigerians residing in Lebanon to consider leaving the country while commercial flights are still operational.

The advisory comes in light of escalating attacks in Lebanon, particularly by the Israeli government targeting Hezbollah and other areas.

According to a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at NIDCOM, most Nigerians in Lebanon have already relocated from the southern region to safer areas. The commission reassured that no Nigerian has been harmed or injured thus far.

NIDCOM also urged Nigerians in Lebanon to maintain contact with the Nigerian Embassy for necessary guidance and emphasized that their safety is a priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The ongoing conflict in Lebanon is part of Israel’s military response, which shifted focus from Gaza to securing its northern border, following the October 7 attacks by Iran-backed Hamas.
