Nigerian Army Frees Fisayo Soyombo After Public Outcry.

The Nigerian Army has released investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo after three days in detention, following public pressure and social media campaigns.

Soyombo was arrested during a military raid on an illegal oil bunkering site in Port Harcourt.

The Army confirmed his detention, linking it to ongoing investigations into oil theft.

The hashtag #FreeFisayoNow trended widely on social media, drawing attention from Nigerians, activists, and media outlets.

In a statement after his release, Soyombo credited public support for his freedom, saying, “Without your pressure, I’d still be in that cell.”

The Army called out media organisations to verify facts, emphasising its commitment to fighting oil theft and protecting national resources.
