Nigerian Army Undergoes Shake Up, Top Officers Reshuffled.

The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffling of senior officers across key positions, a strategic move to bolster its leadership structure.

This decision, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, is to enhance the Army’s operational efficiency and administrative capabilities.

The restructuring sees high-ranking officers transitioning into roles that align with the Army’s evolving security strategies.

Notable changes include Major General LA Fejokwu taking charge as Chief of Administration after serving at the National Defence College, while Major General GU Chibuisi now leads Civil Military Affairs, moving from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre.  Major General AS Ndalolo has been appointed Chief of Training (Army), reflecting a broader focus on strengthening training programs.

The leadership of key divisions has also been reinforced.

Major General OT Olatoye now commands the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, and Major General EF Oyinlola heads the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN.

Additionally, the roles of Major Generals AGL Haruna and IA Ajose as commanders in the North East and North West operations have been confirmed.

Further appointments highlight the Army’s commitment to innovation and communication.

Major General OS Abai will spearhead transformation initiatives, and Major General MC Kangye has been named Director of Media Operations at Defence Headquarters.

Major General GM Mutkut now leads the Multi-National Joint Task Force in N’Djamena, reflecting a focus on international collaboration.

Command of specialised corps has also shifted.

Major General OC Ajunwa now leads the Armour Corps, Major General HT Wesley oversees the Ordnance Corps, and Major General TT Numbere heads the Engineers Corps.

These changes aim to fortify the Army’s tactical and technical units.

Training institutions are set for renewed leadership as well.

Major General JO Sokoya is the new Commandant of the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Major General UM Alkali leads the Army War College, and Major General FS Etim now commands the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.

Other key appointments include Major General IE Ekpenyong at the School of Military Engineering and Major General AO Adegbite at the School of Supply and Transport.

Lieutenant General Oluyede has urged these officers to approach their new roles with dedication and a renewed commitment to national security.

He emphasised the importance of prioritising troop welfare while intensifying efforts against terrorism and insurgency.
