The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has rejected rumors suggesting the cancellation of its crude oil supply deal with Dangote Refinery.
In a statement issued on Monday, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed that the company has consistently provided crude oil to Dangote Refinery since its operational start in 2023. He further indicated that the discussions for extending the current contract are in progress.
Soneye highlighted that since October 2024, the refinery has been allocated 48 million barrels of crude, with a total of 84 million barrels supplied since the refinery’s launch.
The agreement in question, which was established in October 2024, is set to expire in March 2025. NNPC clarified that this was a short-term arrangement, structured to last six months, subject to crude oil availability.
NNPC emphasised that it remains dedicated to supplying crude oil to local refineries, with ongoing negotiations for a renewed agreement.
