Columbus Irisoanga, a beloved veteran Nollywood actor famous for his impeccable portrayal of native doctors in films, has passed away.
The news of his death was shared by fellow actor Hilda Dokubo on Thursday through an emotional Instagram post.
Dokubo, visibly saddened, wrote: “Our uncle Coli @colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu. There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers State Nollywood.”
Irisoanga, a respected figure in the Nigerian film industry, was not only known for his acting skills but also for his role as a senior lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt’s Department of Theatre Arts.
Throughout his career, he starred in numerous iconic films, including the popular 2003 release Issakaba, which remains one of his most memorable works.
His death marks a significant loss to the Nollywood community, particularly in Rivers State, where he made a lasting impact both as a performer and educator.
