Nollywood Mourns as Veteran Actress Nkechi Nweje Passes Away

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran actress Nkechi Nweje.

Her passing was confirmed on Saturday by movie producer Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, who described her as a vibrant actress and a close friend. Ajemba recalled their last conversation, revealing that she had offered him advice during a recent controversy.

Veteran actress Rita Edochie also paid tribute, sharing a candlelight image with the caption, “This world is really not our home.”

Actor Asa Ikuku expressed his grief, calling Nweje a blessing to the industry and acknowledging her lasting impact on Nollywood.

Nkechi Nweje was celebrated for her compelling motherly roles in Nollywood, leaving behind a significant legacy. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Azuibuike Nweje, and six children.
