Northampton Crown Court in the United Kingdom has convicted Nigerians Tosin Dada and Solomon Adebiyi on multiple rape charges.
The verdict was confirmed in a statement by Northamptonshire Police, shared on their official Facebook page.
This case comes shortly after Nigerian pilot Olukayode Ojo was convicted in Texas for falsifying statements to acquire the Federal Aviation Administration certificate.
Dada and Adebiyi were charged with three counts of rape each, stemming from an incident in March 2022. Despite their claims of consensual sex with a 17-year-old girl, the jury found them guilty.
Following their conviction, the court has remanded the men in custody, with sentencing scheduled for October 25, 2024. The trial, which lasted nine days, concluded with the jury’s unanimous decision after eight hours of deliberation.
Northamptonshire Police detailed, “Tosin Dada, 34, formerly of Knox Road, Wellingborough, and Solomon Adebiyi, 39, formerly of Stanley Street, Northampton, were each charged with three counts of rape in connection with the offence on March 12, 2022. Both men will remain in custody until their sentencing at Northampton Crown Court on October 25, 2024.”
