A Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer, Maikano Sarkin-Tasha, is set to be prosecuted for allegedly supplying ammunition and drugs to bandits operating in Zamfara State.
Sarkin-Tasha was apprehended at a police checkpoint while attempting to transport cannabis and firearms, including live ammunition.
The incident occurred during a thorough security crackdown on banditry in the region.
Zamfara NSCDC Commandant, Sani Mustapha, confirmed the arrest, expressing shock at the officer’s involvement in aiding criminals.
Additionally, he revealed that Sarkin-Tasha had been under scrutiny for prior irresponsible behavior, raising concerns about his conduct.
Further investigations revealed that the officer was actively collaborating with bandits, contributing to the region’s insecurity.
The NSCDC, in response, has vowed to prosecute Sarkin-Tasha according to the law and hold him accountable for his actions.
