A preliminary report by the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has shed light on the December 11, 2024, crash landing of an Allied Air Boeing 737-400 Freighter at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The aircraft, identified as 5N-JRT, was on a scheduled flight to transport cargo when the incident occurred.

It had earlier departed Lagos at 09:11 and was approaching Abuja at 09:44 before the crash landing.

All crew members safely exited the aircraft without injuries, and the cockpit and cabin structure remained intact.

The NSIB confirmed that both pilots had valid certifications, and the aircraft’s airworthiness was up to date, having completed over 100 landings in the previous month.

Investigators ruled out weather conditions as a contributing factor, stating that all critical navigation and communication systems, except the Airfield Lighting Panel System, were operational.

Further investigations are ongoing.
