In a bid to maintain the integrity of the national service, hence preventing unqualified individuals from participating, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has invalidated the certificates of 101 individuals mobilized for national service by the University of Calabar(UNICAL) during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years.
The motive behind the invalidation was disclosed in a statement by the Director, Information and Public Relations of the Corp, Eddy Megwa, saying that, the organization had taken measures to maintain the integrity of the national service programme and prevent unqualified individuals from participating.
In the statement, he added that the affected individuals were found to have been mobilised fraudulently, and their certificates have been revoked immediately as part of the NYSC’s strong commitment to ensuring that only qualified individuals are issued certificates of national service.
To ensure that the integrity of the NYSC is sternly maintained, the NYSC has however, issued an advise to the public, especially Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments of Agencies (MDAs), Corporate and Religious Organisations, Multi-National Companies, and Corps Producing Institutes, to meticulously verify the authenticity of certificates presented to them.
