The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has announced the automation of the process for obtaining pension clearance certificates, allowing employers to access the document more easily.

This development was revealed by Abdulkadir Dahiru, Head of the Investment Supervision Department at PenCom, during the launch of the Commission’s Service Charter and Framework in Abuja, as part of Customer Service Week celebrations on Thursday.

Dahiru highlighted that the pension clearance certificate ensures that employers meet their obligations to employees, noting past difficulties in obtaining the certificates.

The new automation process, which will take effect next year, will allow employers to apply for the certificates online, from the comfort of their homes or offices, and receive them within five working days after uploading the necessary documents.

“The pension clearance certificate is essential to ensure that employers fulfil their obligations to employees. Starting next year, employers can apply online, and within five working days, they will receive their certificates,” Dahiru explained.

Acting Director-General of PenCom, Omolola Bridget-Oloworaran, described the launch of the Service Charter and Framework as a major milestone for the pension industry.

She emphasized that PenCom is committed to providing efficient, professional, and transparent services to stakeholders. The Service Charter outlines service expectations and aims to build public trust in the pension system.

Bridget-Oloworaran urged stakeholders to view the Service Charter as a guide for continuous improvement, ensuring that service delivery exceeds contributors’ expectations.
