The Nigeria Police Force has arrested five individuals suspected of involvement in transborder gun-running operations.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, identified the suspects as Adamu Noma, Matthew Audu, Andrew Poyi, Aminu Sani, and Aminu Talha.
They were apprehended on November 18 by the Force Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).
Recovered items included 10 locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, five Israeli-made AK-47 rifles, a revolver pistol, a pump-action rifle, 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and a welding machine used for rifle fabrication.
Adejobi highlighted the police’s commitment to combating crime, adding that Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun has instructed officers to intensify efforts to take out illegal arms manufacturing and trafficking nationwide.
