President Bola Tinubu, addressing the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, strongly called for an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza, stating that the prolonged conflict has led to “immeasurable suffering.”

The summit, attended by heads of state and leaders from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the League of Arab States, focused on the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Expressing Nigeria’s deep concern, Tinubu reaffirmed support for a two-state solution as the path to lasting peace.

He emphasised that “no political aim or military strategy should come at the expense of innocent lives” and urged respect for proportionality in self-defense, underscoring the need to protect civilian lives.

Tinubu commended Saudi leaders, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their diplomatic efforts and pledged Nigeria’s ongoing support for initiatives promoting stability in the Middle East.

He stressed that a solution requires commitment to dialogue, contextual understanding, and principled compromise, describing the two-state approach as not only diplomatic but essential for mutual recognition and peace.
